Green Energy
William Hammond Ltd is proud to only use 'green energy' for our own supplies. We are currently looking into ways to generate our own green energy
Trees and land management
We have already planted thousands of native broad leaf trees on the property and dug ponds for local wildlife. Our land is grazed at low density by a local sheep farmer (Harold Wainwright) who shares out land stewardship ideals.
We are currently looking into increasing tree coverage across the property.
If local schools or groups are interested in using our land to establish forest schools please contact us to discuss your ideas.
Installation of leaky dams
Work to construct a series of leaky dams and extensive tree planting along the watercourse on land belonging to William Hammond Ltd has recently been completed. The work is intended to help with flood mitigation to communities downstream of the Brickworks.
Mersey Rivers Trust carried out the construction, and we will work together with them to maintain the dams, taking cuttings and replanting the willow to keep it healthy.
The improved environment should help slow the flow of the stream and help the return of native flora and fauna to the area.
