Family run for 5 generations
The Old Brickworks has been run by the Hammond family for 5 generations.
The current owner is Colin Hammond who has worked at the Old Brickworks for over 40 years. Colin is a font of local knowledge and has been sharing his local intel with archaeologists and historians.
The Old Brickworks

The estate used to be a brickworks with working mines, clay pits, large chimneys and kilns. For a brief history of the site and some images from its time as a brickworks please see the 'History' page. Brickmaking on site ceased in 1968 and since then we have upgraded the existing building, built new units and improved the infrastructure; laying new roads and installing streets lights and new signage to turn the Old Brickworks into a small but vibrant industrial estate.
The surroundings
Located in the small village of Pott Shrigley, at the edge of the beautiful Peak District. We are on a popular route for cyclists with steep ascents and great scenery.

The way marked Gritstone trail, which follows the Pennine edge runs almost through the works.

A vibrant local community

Many of our tenants have been with us for many years; it has been a real pleasure to watch their businesses flourish. On the site we aim to be environmentally conscious. We have planted over 20,000 trees and dug ponds to improve biodiversity. As a result we regularly see woodpeckers, owls and swallows on site.
William Hammond are also proud to support a number of local charities and events.
We are keen to have a cafe/deli on site, maybe even a cycle cafe/bike workshop. Do contact us if you are looking to relocate.
